Ryde

Dad has crossed the waters and is now in Ryde http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryde on the Isle of Wight! He has had another good day on the bike.

He had a good time catching up with his friend in Bognor Regis who he had not seen in 14 years. He packed up and left this morning about 9.30 and headed out on the B roads to Merston and then Chichester http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chichester which is a really nice town. From there he headed to Fishbourne and wished he had more time to explore the Roman Palace http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishbourne_Roman_Palace but he only had time for a cup of coffee. From there he headed onto Southborne and Emsworth. He then had to pick up the busy A27 for about four miles but as soon as he could leave it he did and picked up minor roads/cycle routes again through to Farlington Marshes and onto Southsea. It was then onto Portsmouth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth where Dad picked up Wightlink ferry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wightlink to the Isle of Wight. He had a struggle pushing his bike up the gangway to get it onto the ferry but managed it in the end. Ferry cost him £13.45 return.

Dad did a shop in Tesco in Ryde and then cycled onto a campsite not far out. Between Tesco and the campsite he lost his bike lock! He did go back to see if he could find it but couldn't so tomorrow his first job is he is off out to find a new bike lock!
